Either way once you have closed gap cast Talons, deep breath, if you have full stamina cast noxious breath, if not skip breath. Cast igneous shield, Talons, deep breath. At this point you will probably need to potion, and return to step one prox Det.

Green dragon blood = emergency heal, increases healing received, health + stamina recovery for 20 seconds.
Overflowing alter = causes big AOE distraction of enemy, gives everyone minor lifesteal, and large healing synergy, especially useful when defending an objective or area.
