Build description
Keep in mind I built this as a starting point for new players. There are many ways to build your character and after you get used to the game and how the mechanics work you'll evolve your build to fit your playstyle.
Armor Sets-
Bloodthorn's Touch (Looted, Glenumbra or bought off Guild Trader)
2 rings (Arcane)
1 necklace (Arcane)
Boots (Divines)
Belt (Divines)
Julianos (Crafted, Wrothgar)
Chest (Heavy) (Divines)
Head (Heavy) (Divines)
Pants (Light) (Divines)
Gloves (Light) (Divines)
Lightning Staff (Sharpened)
Restoration Staff (Powered)
Molag Kena (Urgalarg Chief Bane Chest, Undaunted Enclave)
Shoulder (Ideally Divines, but any will do)
Gameplay-
Shield, Buffs and Healing-
Your shield, Hardened Ward, is fantastic. Keep it up as much as possible. Power Surge, Boundless Storm and Defensive Rune are all self buffs. Keep those up as much as possible also. Blessing of restoration is a self heal which also buffs your resistances. Light's Champion Ultimate is a nice heal over time and self buff when you're in a pinch and need to hit an "Oh Shit!" button.
Damage-
Lightning Flood does damage over time in an area of effect. It's great for mobs and to add some additional damage to a boss. Allies can also activate a synergy from it causing more area of effect damage. The rest of the rotation is single target. Haunting Curse is used first. Followed by Crushing Shock repeatedly until the target is near 20% health or Crystal Fragments activates. Use Crystal Fragments only when it's activated and when the target is under 20% health you want to use Mage's Fury repeatedly until the boss is dead. You can also use Crystal Fragments again if it activates from your Mage's Fury spam then go back to Mage's Fury. Sometimes it makes sense to use Mage's Fury after Haunting Curse and before spamming Crushing Shock if you will be able to get the target below 20% health within 4 seconds so it will activate the execute. This is especially nice if your Haunting curse or Mage's Fury activates your Crystal Fragments. Eye of the storm is probably the most powerful ultimate in the game. This is great for dealing with mobs but is also good for bosses.
*You're going to want to use a light attack every 5 seconds or so to activate the buff that charges your ultimate. The buff icon does not appear on the buff tracker or your character screen, inexplicably.
**Heavy attacks with a destruction or restoration staff restore magicka.
Food/Drink buffs (only one can be used at a time):
*If you're a magicka sorcerer you won't need stamina for PVE. The Witchmother's Brew also gives recovery but less health and magicka as a result compared to the foods below. You'll find what you prefer.
(Purple) Witchmother's Brew-Magicka, Health and Magicka Recovery
(Blue) Melon-Baked Parmesan Pork- Magicka and Health
(Blue) Mistral Banana-Bunny Hash- Magicka and Health
(Blue) Solitude Salmon-Millet Soup- Magicka and Health
Potions-
The looted potions that restore magicka or health are a good start but you can buy or craft potions that have multiple effects. There are far to many to list.
Enjoy,
Jaxsun
