Build description

3 eternal yokeda, 5 footman, 2 pirate skeleton, 2 master's SnB
2 or 3 infused tri-stat, the rest sturdy & health glyphs
3 shield play enchants for reduced block cost. doing something else with those enchants means double damage taken (from not blocking) and the risk of stun. Its not worth attempting to use other enchants.

The focus of this build is to mitigate as much damage as possible. Too many tanks just stack health even though it means making your healer's job way harder. By instead focusing on mitigating damage, a single HoT can keep you maxed in health in even the hardest of content.

Take an amount of damage you are going to take and multiply it by the numbers below to see how much is mitigated:
resistances - 0.50
block - 0.50
pirate skeleton - 0.70 (proc)
ironclad - 0.76 (direct damage) (slightly less for DoT, but most of your damage taken is direct)
SnB passive - 0.80
spear wall - 0.85 (melee attacks, same value from SnB passive for ranged)
empowering sweep - 0.85 (cheap ult)
SnB spell absorb - 0.92 (slotted passive)
minor protection - 0.92
footman - 0.92
hardy - 0.93 (same value for elemental defender)
nord passive - 0.94
minor aegis - 0.95

multiply all of the above together to get minimum damage taken: 0.0497 or about 5% of unmitigated value

That only takes into account damage taken modifiers, you can also start stacking reduce damage done with weakening enchant, mending, and heroic slash. solo vHRC final boss his channeled sweeps did as little as 4k damage per hit. most tanks take 10-12k damage per hit.

Do not use shields! since shields take true damage, not a single one of the above modifiers work on them. You will take 20X more damage on your shield than just blocking like normal! The magicka or stamina used on a shield is much better off used on just healing the damage taken. Especially since a tankplar has 8% more healing done and received with restoring focus, plus 8% from heavy armor, 4% from eternal's 2 piece bonus, and 6% from cp.
